I got together with a few friends with kickass amps and Marc at Dailyhero Recordings for a Kemper profiling session last Wednesday. Our goal was to make profiles that would work very well with low tunings and also to use amps you don’t come across every day. These are the ones we profiled:

-Fender EVH 5150 III 50W
-Peavey 6534+
-Soldano SP-77 Preamp through Engl 840/50 Tube Poweramp

All of these were boosted with a Rodenberg Flux Capacitor Overdrive and run through a Mesa oversized 4×12 and Orange PPC412 cab, miced up with a Shure SM57. On top of that, we made DI profiles of every single amp to offer merged profiles – a feature that was just introduced at the NAMM show.

The guitar we used was my Ibanez RG2228A 8-String, loaded with an Instrumental Pickups SFTY3-8, and we made sure to cover the whole range of the insrument in the refining mode of the Kemper. Using a guitar with a lower tuning ensured that the Kemper was able to learn how to handle the lower frequencies in the refining mode. We covered the whole range of the instrument, so there are no shortcomings with normal tunings, only a higher compatibility with lower tunings.

All of these profiles are going to be made available very soon – as a bundle that will include all the profiles and single amp bundles. Stay tuned for more news and some clips!
