Really low tunings demand thicker strings – we all know that. Unfortunately, the holes in tuning-posts often can only hold a .060-gauge or marginally heavier strings.
The handymans solution: carefully drilling the wholes to fit thicker gauges. But if you’re – like me – all thumbs, you’re pretty much out of luck.
Luckily manufacturers are starting to acknowledge the need for wider post-holes with Sperzel offering up to a .085 size hole from now on.
