I added another highly anticipated pickup to my 7-String Pickup Shootout: The DiMarzio Ionizer, Tosin Abasi’s signature pickup.
I was extremely curious to try this pickup – not because I’m such a huge Tosin Abasi fan, but because of a DiMarzio prototype my buddy Ben Eller (check out his YouTube channel, suckamaniacs!) let me borrow a while ago. It’s called Polymath and never made it into production, but the crazy scientists at DiMarzio said that it would sound extremely similiar to the Ionizer, to the point where you couldn’t tell one from the other.
Well, I’d like to disagree, but feel free to compare for yourself below and tell us what you think!
